A trip to the LYS

I had a lovely trip to the LYS, Amazing Threads, yesterday. Of all the LYS's (and I'm blessed to have a few), this one is my favorite. They have TONS of gorgeous yarns, all sorts of price ranges, and really helpful staff. I can't say enough good things about them.

I bought this gorgeous hand-spun, hand-dyed yarn - Rio De La Pata in colorway LA 87. I know the color names leaves a lot to be desired, but it's a fabulous mix of purples, reds, and just a splash of a garyish green. It was 40% off (and still almost $9 a hank!), but I used some of my craft fair earnings so I felt like I could splurge on some fabulous new yarn. I had no idea what I was going to make, but I really wanted this yarn!

I spent some time on Ravelry looking for the perfect pattern to use it in. (BTW - If you haven't signed up for Ravelry (Heidi - this means you!), you should. It's the best knitting resource out there.) I think I'm going to try this cardigan. Yes - another cardigan. But cardi's are my favorite type of sweater! I wanted a very simple pattern that would really showcase the beautiful yarn. I think this one fits the bill. I can't wait to start it, but it might wait until after summer. It's just too hot to knit a sweater in the middle of summer. That and I have about 5 other projects on the needles right now! I think I will have enough yarn left over to make a scarf (or two!).

And now I need to get back to knitting - I have a few projects to finish! Knit on.
